The 49ers is the previous crew of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who started taking a knee throughout the “The Star-Spangled Banner” within the 2016 season. The silent protest was meant to deliver consciousness to police brutality and the racial oppression of African-Americas.
The protest turned a nationwide debate about respecting the flag and veterans. President Donald Trump referred to any participant who would kneel throughout the anthem “son of a b****” and proposed firing soccer gamers for the motion.
“I don’t suppose you possibly can disrespect our nation, our flag, our nationwide anthem,” Trump mentioned in September 2017. “Many (navy) individuals have died.”
Regardless of the controversy that resulted from Kaepernick’s protest, the cheerleader isn’t the primary member of the Gold Rush cheer squad to kneel. In keeping with Mercury Information, two squad members have been seen kneeling throughout final season’s Christmas Eve sport in opposition to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
