Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that is “Guava Island” — look what he’s whippin’ up.
The primary footage from Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) and Rihanna’s secret film challenge hit Twitter over the weekend and followers are geeking out.
The blurry fan-shot clip was captured on the “That is America” singer’s third-annual, three-day PHAROS Competition in New Zealand, the place Glover screened the two-minute trailer.
The group roars because the sneak peek slowly comes into focus to disclose a moody, barely off-key Glover serenading Rihanna, with the latter quipping, “Apply is perfection.”
Fast-fire pictures of syncopated drumming, dancing and kidnapping amp up the clip, punctuated by a fearful RiRi asking: “What’s incorrect with you?”
“We stay in paradise however none of us even have the time or the means to stay right here,” a pissed off Glover responds. “We work exhausting. We deserve a break day. We’re simply takin’ what’s ours.”
“I can’t inform you something,” Wright tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t even know … what’s Guava Island? I’ve no clue. I don’t know something. I don’t even know the place they bought my title from!”
The PHAROS Competition has grow to be recognized an unofficial launchpad for Gambino/Glover initiatives. He famously previewed his then-upcoming album, “Awaken, My Love!,” at the inaugural fest, circa 2016, at Joshua Treen Nationwide Park in Southern California.
