The Raven’s Dwelling star went viral when she advised Oprah Winfrey, “I’m uninterested in being labeled,” after questions on her sexuality.
She continued, “I’m an American. I’m not African-American — I’m American…I don’t know what nation in Africa I’m from, however I do know that my roots are in Louisiana. I’m an American. And that’s a colorless individual.”
The 32-year-old recanted the colorless comment saying, “I didn’t say I wasn’t Black.”
Raven continued, “I know I’m Black. There’s only a distinction. There are lots of African-People, particularly in 2018, that come over from Africa…that’s how I have a look at that title. There are quite a lot of Black People right here who’ve been right here longer than the People which can be a distinct colour.”
