The Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC) has prohibited public campaigning by presidential candidates till November 18.
That is in step with the timelines given by the company and the provisions of the Electoral Act, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu stated.
Yakubu reminded political events and candidates that the top of primaries didn’t imply the speedy graduation of campaigns.
He suggested the events and theur candidates to comply with the electoral timetable.
“Part 99(1) prohibits campaigns by political events sooner than 90 days earlier than polling day.
“Subsequently, going by the provisions of the Electoral Act and the Timetable and Schedule of Actions issued by the Fee, marketing campaign for Presidential and Nationwide Meeting elections will begin on Nov. 18.
“Marketing campaign for Governorship and State Meeting elections begins on Dec. 1.
“I name upon political events and candidates to strictly adhere to those dates,’’ he stated.
Yakubu stated that with the conclusion of primaries by political events yesterday, the subsequent exercise was the nomination of candidates to the fee.
