President Buhari on Tuesday expressed solidarity with Nigerians in a number of states affected by menacing floods and directed all Federal authorities companies “to use their authority and sources to help the victims affected by the pure catastrophe.”
The brand new presidential directive was conveyed via the Director-Basic of the Nationwide Emergency Administration Company (NEMA), Engr. Mustapha Maihaja.
By the delegation of his authority to declare a Nationwide Catastrophe in response to the rising threats of destruction by floods, the NEMA DG is remitted to coordinate a nationwide response to emergency conditions and in doing so, empowered to direct any or all companies of presidency to use their authority and sources to supply help to victims affected by the floods.
In a warning to all the companies of the Federal authorities, the President requested that any such company that failed to help needs to be reported to him. The President expressed his sympathies to all families who lost property and their loved ones arising from the floods.
Noting that the lack of lives can’t be compensated, President Buhari assured Nigerians that his administration will do all it might to reduce the struggling and distress of residents affected by the catastrophe.
