Saint Laurent inventive director Anthony Vaccarello turned a concrete jungle right into a tropical paradise at tonight’s Saint Laurent style show.
As visitors entered an open-air venue constructed across the Trocadero, a single row of gleaming white palm timber spanned single file throughout the size of an infinity pool. The scene felt like an image postcard of a glamorous Hollywood Hills home perched in Los Angeles, however when the clock struck eight p.m., the Eiffel Tower glittered in plain sight to a crowd that included Kate Moss, Carla Bruni and Salma Hayek.
5 minutes later, a mannequin clad in a YSL black tuxedo – Vaccarello’s newest take on the model’s iconic Le Smoking – strutted throughout the liquid runway in a pair of high-heeled snakeskin boots – a second that prompted a showgoer (subsequent to me) to audibly say “Oh sh-t, she’s strolling within the pool!”
A parade of glamazons together with Kaia Gerber and Binx Walton splish-splashed their method down the flooded catwalk (calling up reminiscences of Alexander McQueen, who additionally had his fashions walk on water). Some have been styled in mod booties, others in chunky white platform sandals. Regardless of the heel peak, not a single one slipped. (They’re referred to as supermodels for a purpose.)
For the finale, there have been night put on choices aplenty for the jet-set lady who doesn’t assume twice about carrying her black patent stilettos to the pool (or aboard her personal yacht): breezy animal print caftans, sheer black robes, glittery cut-out bathing fits. Spectacular.
As would be the shoe restore invoice for these lovely water-soaked sneakers that navigated at this time’s show.
