A California Safeway grocer has apologized after staff known as the police on a neighborhood Black lady whereas she and her sisters donated items to a homeless man.
Erika Martin went to a Mountain View, California Safeway together with her sisters Sunday night to donate a care package deal to a homeless man who frequents the shop’s car parking zone.
“That day I made a decision to give him pet food for his canine,” Martin advised KPIX.
As she sat in her automobile awaiting the return of her sisters, a number of police vehicles approached her automobile claiming the shop supervisor thought she was a shoplifter as a result of she made “eye-contact” with a black male suspected of stealing from the grocery store.
