A radio station in Jos has been fined 100,000 Naira for playing Falz’ “This is Nigeria” music.
The Nationwide Broadcasting Fee, NBC, wrote a letter to the radio station informing them that Falz’ music titled This is Nigeria is “laced with vulgar lyrics” and for playing the music, they are going to be sanctioned.
The lyrics they identified that that they had an issue with is the half that goes, “This is Nigeria, look how we residing now, all people be prison.”
Additionally, the fee fined the station for playing Olamide’s music titled “See Mary, See Jesus.” The letter says Mary and Jesus are thought to be sacred by the Christian religion and as such contravenes part 4.3.1e.
The station was additionally cautioned for playing Wande Coal’s Iskaba with the lyrics, “Woman you dey make me kolo, shaking the ass like kolo” which NBC says is vulgar.
NBC has requested the station to pay the advantageous of 100,000 Naira inside two weeks, else they are going to be made to face stiffer sanctions.
Social media customers have reacted in shock to the letter and marvel how Falz’ This is Nigeria will be thought of vulgar.
