Wake Forest College introduced on Tuesday that former guard Chris Paul is donating $2.5 million to the college’s basketball program. It’s the largest present by a former basketball participant or alumna beneath the age of 35.
The contribution will likely be used to “remodel the boys’s and ladies’s basketball clubhouses with expanded and enhanced locker rooms, vitamin sources and therapy areas.” The lads’s locker room will likely be named in Paul’s honor.
“The locker room transformation mission impressed me, as a result of that’s the place gamers construct relationships and create a unifying camaraderie that’s the basis of success on the courtroom,” the North Carolina native stated within the announcement. “Forming lifelong friendships together with your teammates is without doubt one of the most rewarding points of sports activities.”
The nine-time NBA All-star performed for Wake Forest starting in 2003. Paul earned First Staff All-ACC honors throughout his second and remaining season with the Demon Deacons. He was drafted to the NBA in 2005 and has since performed for the New Orleans Hornets, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets.
