24-year old Jahed Choudhury, and Sean Rogan walked down the aisle last week, they are the UK’s first gay Muslim to ever get married Jahed Choudhury has disclosed that threats he has received so far include an acid attack.
He said that he has been receiving death threats on social media and in the street, since he married his boyfriend Sean Rogan last week.
“The worst [messages] say ‘the next time I see you in the streets, I’m going to throw acid in your face’.
“Even if I walk down the streets, I have people spitting on me and calling me pig – all the nasty stuff. I just keep walking.”
Some of the comments posted on a video of the pair by BBC Midlands, says:
“You Can’t Be A Gay Muslim, If You Are Than Your Not A Muslim.
“Islam Forbids This, I’m not saying they should Split up and Be Straight Which is the right thing to do, what I’m saying is they can’t be Muslim If they are Gay.”
Another added: “It’s like eating meat and calling myself a vegetarian you are not Muslims.”
“I’ve been brought up Muslim and the Koran mentions you cannot be gay and Muslim. But this is how I have chosen to live my life. I will never get rid of my faith.”
